About the Conference

The Reclaiming Our Rest Conference is a multi-day professional convening designed for Black women in academia, including faculty, administrators, researchers, and higher education leaders. Taking place March 19–22, 2026, in Texas Hill Country, the conference creates a structured space for professional reflection, leadership development, and sustainable career engagement within higher education.

Grounded in research-informed practices related to burnout, leadership resilience, and equity-minded professional sustainability, the conference centers rest as a strategic and necessary component of effective leadership, institutional impact, and long-term career success. Participants will engage in facilitated sessions that examine the intersection of wellness, leadership responsibility, and organizational culture within academic environments.

The conference features a curated program of keynote conversations, guided reflective practices, facilitated dialogues, and experiential workshops designed to support clarity of purpose, renewed professional vision, and community-based problem-solving. Sessions will address topics such as navigating leadership fatigue, sustaining purpose-driven work, and cultivating institutional practices that support well-being and retention.

Designed specifically for Black women educators and academic leaders, the Reclaiming Our Rest Conference provides participants with actionable insights, peer networks, and reflective tools that can be integrated into their professional roles and institutional contexts.
